Mamelodi Sundowns defender stuck in limbo over future

Mamelodi Sundowns will decide where defender Lyle Lakay will move to next after being deemed surplus to requirements

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Lyle Lakay remains uncertain over his future.

The experienced defender is currently on international duty, captaining Bafana Bafana at the ongoing COSAFA Cup.

Lakay spent last season out on loan at Cape Town City however he remains a Mamelodi Sundowns player heading into next season.

Take a look at what the player himself had to say regarding his future.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS DEFENDER UNCERTAIN OVER FUTURE

“I still have to report back to Sundowns because I have a contract with them and I don’t know what’s gonna happen,” Lyle Lakay told IOL.

“I’ve not made any contact with the club but I still have to report. I was told I’m not a part of the plans but they still have to decide because I’m contracted to them (Mamelodi Sundowns).

“That’s not in the plans at the moment (returning City) but also Sundowns gets to decide what happens next. I’m not ruling out anything but Sundowns have to decide because the ball is in their court.”

In other news, legendary former Kaizer Chiefs striker Pollen Ndlanya believes all PSL teams should have a striker/attacking coach.

This comes after the league failed to record a single top goal scorer with the award being shared by Peter Shalulile and Khanyisa Mayo.

The winning duo finished the season on a meager 12 goals each and that’s concerning according to Ndlanya.

AMAKHOSI LEGEND GIVES SOLUTIONS TO PSL GOAL DROUGHT

“Look, this thing is happening everywhere. Benni McCarthy was roped in at a big club, Manchester United to help in the strikeforce. Look now at (Marcus) Rashford what he is doing.” Ndlanya explained regarding ‘attacking coaches’ as quoted by SoccerLaduma.

“It’s something our so-called big bosses must look up to. They much check what is the problem. For me I don’t think they are worried what is the problem. I feel sorry for the supporters.

“Now the defenders are so relaxed, they are in a picnic, they know that, ‘Ah, there’s no danger there’. It’s a problem.”
