Mamelodi Sundowns arrived back in South Africa this morning after their 4-1 win over CR Belouizdad on Saturday evening and return to domestic action tomorrow.
Masandawana quashed all notions of a slump after ending their four-game run without a win by thrashing the Algerian champions in their first-leg quarter-final in Algiers.
After an evening flight on Sunday via Air Egypt, they landed at OR Tambo this morning but there’s no time for rest as Richards Bay awaits at Loftus Versveld at 15h00 on Tuesday.
“We’re a bit tired but we have a serious game tomorrow, so I think the mentality is right for the boys, we have to win, we’ve been drawing and losing we need to bring the team back [to winning ways],” Khuliso Madau told Sundowns media.
“They are a good side, but as I said we’ve not been getting good results – if we can go to this game with the right mentality and energy, we’ll make sure we win the game.”
The South Africa international full-back admitted they enjoyed a morale-boosting victory but they are not counting on the high of securing the away win in order to motivate themselves for the Natal Richboyz.
“As a team, we have the 24-hour rule [to get over the last match], we won, we celebrated the win – but now we focus on the next one.”
Masandawana are aiming to secure a record points tally of 72 with their remaining four games of the season.
They will face off against Belouizdad in their return leg on Saturday afternoon.
