Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has hit back at his detractors after beating Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

Truter, ironically beat Chiefs by the same scoreline on his last visit to the Calabash but ended up being relieved of his duties at AmaZulu and replaced with Romain Folz.

And after returning to management, sections of supporters stated he would relegate Babina Noko and was labelled a ‘draw specialist.’

However, seven points from his first three games in charge has seen Truter and his new side move from 15th to 11th and he feels there’s been no patience at his previous jobs in the top-flight.

“I think I came here in the MTN8 semi-final and took a lead to KZN… the banter from the supporters will also be there,” Truter said.

“In South Africa, we as coaches, we don’t really get enough time to settle – I took Swallows to promotion and then the first loss of the season, then I got placed on special leave.

“I went to AmaZulu and I think… only a few games as well [went wrong], there was no patience and I parted ways.”

‘Brakkies’ feels that he’s now in an environment that could potentially bring success – stating that external factors provided major challenges at Usuthu and Swallows.

“Here [at Sekhukhune], because of the players, because of the support of the management, we’re working well, I think it’s much better,” he continued.

“The players here are very receptive where in the past, you know in South African football, some big players have big egos that you have to manage as well and when that part of the coaching drains you, the tactics and training take second spot.”

Sekhukhune return to action on Saturday when they will face Stellenbosch FC in the Winelands at 17:30.
