Kaizer Chiefs dynamo Njabulo Blom needs to add one thing to his game and he’ll be a complete midfielder.

Having turned 23 on Sunday, Njabulo Blom now enters the phase where perhaps we can no longer regard him as a young prospect.
His importance to Kaizer Chiefs is obvious. He’s become an integral first-team player who’s now settled on a position, and the talented defensive midfielder is well on the way to becoming a huge star. Where can he improve though?
After 94 senior Amakhosi appearances, Njabulo Blom is yet to score for Kaizer Chiefs. It’s not his job to score goals, by any stretch, but of a player of his undoubted caliber should be looking to add that to his game. It would be such a bonus for him and his manager. Blom is exceptional in so many departments, so it wouldn’t ne unreasonable to demand that a player of his talents starts arriving in the box when the time is right.
So, how does Arthur Zwane set about doing that? He’ll need to find the perfect balance in midfield and a new signing in that regard isn’t out of the question.
The likes of Andile Jali or Rivaldo Coetzee would provide a solid platform and create a bit of freedom for Blom to show us his underrated abilities in the opponents’ box. Both Jali and Coetzee are not currently linked with a move to the club though. Perhaps Zwane needs a midfielder in that mould, however, to unleash the undoubted box-to-box skills that Blom possesses.
His record of EIGHT assists from those 94 senior appearances for Chiefs isn’t too bad. But there’s room for improvement. It’s time for Amakhosi management to build a team around this wildly talented player because that could be an important tactic in convincing him to extend his contract.
