Kaizer Chiefs fans might need to pivot their expectations around the types of attackers that are readily available on the market.

Kaizer Chiefs are on the hunt for a new striker. That’s common knowledge by now.
The issue with that is this; clubs that they approach for players might drive prices up because they’re aware of Amakhosi’s deep need in that regard. The transfer market is a complex game of poker and right now, selling clubs hold the cards.
A cursory glance at the most valuable players on the books of Orlando Pirates paints quite an interesting picture:
ORLANDO PIRATES MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS
Would you have guessed that Namibian utility man Deon Hotto, of all people, is the only Orlando Pirates player whose value is in excess of €1 million? (R17.8 million). Made more surprising because he’s now 32 years old.
- R17.9 million – Deon Hotto
- R17.4 million – Fortune Makaringe
- R16.5 million – Thembinkosi Lorch
- R15.6 million – Innocent Maela
- R15.6 million – Vincent Pule
Hypothetically speaking, of course, would Amakhosi faithful be excited if the club signed a player of Deon Hotto’s age and profile for that price?
He’s not an out-and-out attacker by any means, but Deon Hotto can slot into a number of roles and formations. Perhaps Chiefs needs to cast their net a bit wider and search for players like Hotto.

Meanwhile, speaking of valuable players, the world will be watching Portugal vs Uruguay tonight with plenty on the line in World Cup Group H. Earlier today, Ghana claimed a thrilling 3-2 win against South Korea to blow that group wide open. Did you see what James the Jellyfish predicted for tonight’s clash?
