Kaizer Chiefs star opens up on agonizing career low!

A Kaizer Chiefs star has revealed that he was once told he’ll never play football again due to a career threatening injury!

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has opened up on his tough journey to the top in South African football.

The silky midfielder joined the mighty Amakhosi at the beginning of the season in a rather surprise move from Swallows FC.

While playing for the Glamour Boys can easily pass as reaching the summit of local football, Matlou’s climb to the top has been an incredible journey.

The 24-year-old has since opened up on his lowest point in his career: being told he’ll never play football again!

KAIZER CHIEFS STAR WAS TOLD HE’LL NEVER PLAY FOOTBALL AGAIN

“We were playing a tournament called Metropolitan Cup. This is a school tournament.” Matlou told Kaizer Chiefs TV.

“It was in Pimville at the Nike Centre. In the first five minutes of the game, they passed me the ball on the left side of the field.

“I pushed the ball once and the second time I pushed it to the right side, trying to cut inside and I just went down.

“Nobody kicked me, I was alone. So I just heard the sound of a bone breaking. While I was on the ground, I tried to move my feet, but I could hear the bones were touching each other.

“I would say Rhulani Mabasa is the one who told me not to give up. I had a nail in my leg so I slept alone.

“I thought I wouldn’t play football again because that’s what they said at the hospital. It was not an accident. I was on the ground.

“When I thought of that, I remembered Rhulani once said to me ‘never give up’! I worked hard to be where I am today.”

In other news, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandilla star Xolani Nkala is dreaming of a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Better known as ‘Blackberry’, Nkala is playing in the professional ranks for the first this season.

He joined the Limpopo based Motsepe Foundation Championship side TTM at the beginning of the season.

This came after impressing in the DStv eKasi Champ of Champs for his side AT Mambas.

While his tricks and flicks may be rather unorthodox, he still aims to go the full way as a professional footballer.

Despite supporting Orlando Pirates, ‘Blackberry’ is hoping to Don the Black and Gold of Kaizer Chiefs!

During a recent interview with SuperSport TV, Blackberry confirmed his ambitions to one day join Kaizer Chiefs.

“My inspiration is to find myself playing in the Dstv Premiership. Promoted with TTM and to also show everyone that it’s possible to make it professionally even if you come from playing street football” – Blackberry said.

“I like ‘Love and Peace’. Actually I love the Amakhosi. I‘m a person who grew up supporting Orlando Pirates, but I enjoy Kaizer Chiefs’ style of play. I wish that I end up playing for them.”
