Zwane Hopes Caleb Scores Every Game

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane hopes that Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana can keep up scoring for the club.

Chiefs, looking to be coasting to a defeat at the hands of SuperSport United after Grant Magerman had drilled home from range for the visitors before the international break, saw the Burundian striker slid in the equaliser in the 40th minute to net his first goal for the club.

With the game opening up in the second half, Bimenyimana was brought down inside the box and he then dusted off himself to slot what turned out to be the winner penalty.

Impressively, it was Bimenyimana’s first start at the club after previous two subs, which would do a world of good for his confidence as Zwane has been in hunt for someone who will provide a focal point up top.

That win ended Chiefs winless run of three games and also relieving the pressure off Zwane, who had signed an international striker that was unknown despite a few spells abroad

Bimenyimana joined Chiefs on a two-year deal with a further one-year in August, becoming the second Burundian player to don the famous black and gold shirt after Valery Nahayo and Zwane is keen for him to score regularly.

“It was big for him, most definitely,” said Zwane to the iDiski Times.

“It was good for him to score two goals and hopefully he will keep it that way going forward. If he can have a goal in each game, then that would be good for us.”

This did not only help Zwane to relieve pressure after Chiefs were teetering at the relegation zone, but also prove the doubters wrong after he took time to sign Bimenyimana having initially ran a rule on his assessment during the off season.

“Look, strikers are here to score goals,” Zwane added.

“He knows his own role and responsibilities. Caleb’s responsibility is to bury those chances that we are creating for him. You can see other strikers have scored too.

“We are trying to polish our final entries, be it clinical or be it deadly and so far it is coming nicely and we will get it right obviously.”

Zwane will be relying on Bimenyimana this coming weekend in a big battle with AmaZulu in the MTN8 semi final first leg at FNB Stadium on Sunday (15:30).
