An Orlando Pirates star has been selected in the squad to face Brazil, and represent his national team this month.
Having overcome his injury troubles, Richard Ofori has been rediscovering his form at Bucs and has reclaimed the club’s number one jersey under coach Jose Riveiro this season.
The 28-year-old has featured in all eight matches for the Buccaneers so far in the league and MTN8 respectively, and has been rewarded for his efforts with a call-up to the Ghana senior national team for the upcoming international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua, as part of the preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ofori has kept four clean sheets from seven matches in the DStv Premiership and is second on the charts behind TS Galaxy’s Melusi Buthelezi who is on five clean sheets. Cape Town City’s Darren Keet, Salim Jamal Magoola of Richards Bay FC, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams and King Ndlovu from Maritzburg United are all on three clean sheets each.
Meanwhile, Riveiro will hope that Ofori and his teammates will be on top of their game when they face TS Galaxy in their next match on Saturday, to redeem themselves after a loss to Maritzburg United last weekend.
