While the arrival of a new player at a club might be seen to be a disadvantage to players already in the squad and playing in the same position, things appear to be different for a Kaizer Chiefs star, according to insiders.
With Chiefs having confirmed adding Edmilson Dove to their current squad, the Mozambican international’s arrival has served as a motivation, if anything, to Bafana Bafana defender Sifiso Hlanti in his push for a return, according to sources.
Hlanti, 32, has been out of action since November, after suffering a horrific Achilles tendon rupture.
While the left-back still has to regain his confidence, as Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane alluded recently, the experienced player has been training with the team and is said to be getting back to his best.
“Sifiso Hlanti has done really well to come back from injury and is on the right track. The confidence is coming back and is showing signs of readiness. He is an experienced player and is used to competition and if anything, he will be motivated (by Dove's arrival),” said the source.
