Orlando Pirates are believed to have made a surprise U-turn on one of the club’s stars who was announced as released, as part of the changes taking place at the Soweto giants since the season ended.
Indications are that after announcing Thabang Monare as one of the players to exit the club, Pirates are understood to have made a U-turn on the player!
Siya sources have revealed that Bucs have backtracked on a decision to part ways with the star, with Monare now earmarked as a key player in new coach José Riveiro’s squad for the 2022/23 season.
According to insiders, the Buccaneers look set to offer the player a new deal, with indications that the midfielder could indeed form part of the Spanish coach’s team for the new campaign.
Monare, 32, is expected to join his teammates in training, as players will be taken through their paces by the Spaniard and his technical team in the coming weeks during pre-season preparations.
The former Jomo Cosmos player made 15 appearances in the DStv Premiership under Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids this past season and had been instrumental in the team’s impressive CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
