A Golden Arrows star defender has been earmarked as a replacement for Ricardo Nascimento at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Brazilian defender Nascimento saw his contract abruptly terminated in January after five-and-a-half years at Chookloop. The club deregistered him to make space for Erwin Saavedra as the fifth foreign player.
As a result, the Tshwane giants were left thin at the back and have been in the market searching for a competent centre-back.
Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi recently stated that his star-studded side needs reinforcements.
Arrows centre-back Nkosinathi Sibisi is being lined up as a potential successor to Nascimento, according to the Siya sources.
During the season, Sundowns coaches Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena were forced to change central defenders due to injuries to Rushine De Reuck, Brian Onyango Rushine De Reuck and Grant Kekana.
Sibisi, in advanced talks with Sundowns, has featured in 20 DStv Premiership matches this campaign, scoring three times and providing one assist. His impressive performances have seen him also earn a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.
Sundowns are not the only side interested in acquiring the services of Sibisi, as Orlando Pirates are also in the race.
