A former Kaizer Chiefs player has questioned why the club would want to sign Siyethemba Sithebe from AmaZulu.
The Siya crew has reported that Amakhosi are on the verge of signing Sithebe from Usuthu. The player's contract with the KZN outfit is set to expire at the end of June and he could make the move to Gauteng in the current transfer window.
But with the likes of Phathutshedzo Nange and Cole Alexander in the middle of the park, former Amakhosi midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane feels it's not necessary to sign Sithebe.. Njabulo Blom and Njabulo Ngcobo can also play in the midfield, so head coach Stuart Baxter has options in that department.
"They have enough midfielders, so I don't see him adding to what they already have. They have guys like (Phathutshedzo) Nange and others in midfield, but we don't see things the same way. Maybe there is something they see he will add, but I feel that he should stay with AmaZulu and he was getting (Bafana Bafana) call-ups. But maybe when he moves, game time will be a problem," Sikhakhane told the Siya crew.
"But sometimes it depends on the player. Maybe it's his dream to play for Chiefs, but for me, I don't see him putting some of the players who are there on the bench."
There is an area where Sikhakhane feels Chiefs should look at bolstering instead.
"Maybe (they can get) a centre back. When you look at guys like (Mulomowandau) Mathoho and (Daniel) Cardoso, they are getting older. The one who you can say age is still on his side is (Siyabonga) Ngezana."
