The 28-year-old has only notched up eight appearances in the DStv Premiership this season, while scoring one goal in the process.
However, Ajagun's stay in South Africa has come to an end after the Sudan Premier League side confirmed his arrival on Sunday.
The DStv Premiership champions have many options in midfield, with Mpangase explaining that Mokoena cant be paired alongside Anfile Jali.
Ajagun joined the Citizens as a free agent last year on a free transfer after parting ways with Belgian side and has managed to rack up six goals in 23 appearances over the past year.
The Nigerian midfielder becomes the second player to leave City this week after Abbubaker Mobara completed a move to fellow DStv Premiership side AmaZulu.
