Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs are in hot pursuit of two PSL wonder kids who have made history in the DStv Premiership in recent times.

As reported by the Siya crew in the last two weeks, the recently held Engen Knockout Tournament was a hunting ground for some of the country’s big clubs with all of them flocking to the prestigious annual tournament to snap up some of the best young talent in the country.

The crew reported that Chiefs, in particular, had two Stellenbosch FC teenagers on the club's radar following their bright displays in the Cape Town leg of the tournament.

Roy Keane Avontuur (18) and Fuad Johnson (18), who scooped the Striker of the Tournament award, and the Top Goalscorer award were the two players who caught the eye of the scouts.

The Stellenbosch-born teenager, Avontuur, made history last year when he became the club's youngest ever debutant making his debut against Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership encounter. According to Siya sources both Chiefs and Downs were scouting the midfielder.

Many will remember Johnson, the towering striker who made waves when he became the youngest player to sign a professional contract at 16 with Highlands Park in 2020. He left the club to join Stellies following their sale to TS Galaxy.

According to Siya sources, Amakhosi were keeping a keen eye on the striker who walked away with the Golden Boot after scoring six goals in three matches.

Information made available to the Siya crew is that both players have long-term contracts with the Cape outfit, meaning that Downs or Chiefs would have to negotiate a transfer fee with Stellies if they are to lure their prized possessions away from the club.
