The agent of an in-form Orlando Pirates target has commented on the player's future.
Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu has attracted interest locally and outside of Mzansi, following an impressive start to the season.
The star has been banging in the goals for Sekhukhune United, ensuring a stellar first season in the topflight.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has got Orlando Pirates keeping a close eye on him, while there is also interest in his services from Egypt, according to sources in the know.
Ohizu has netted four goals to date in the DStv Premiership this season and is one of the early candidates for the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot, along with Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns and Victor Letsoalo from Royal AM, among others.
As the former Jomo Cosmos player is hoping to maintain his form, while also attempting to help Sekhukhune to further improve on the league’s log standings, indications are that Babina Noko could be formally approached for his services at the end of the season.
A source close to Sekhukhune confirmed that the hard-working forward is being monitored by Bucs and clubs in Egypt, although he is said to be in no rush to make a move as his focus is on helping Sekhukhune and on receiving a call-up to the Nigerian senior national team.
“He is a very good player and Pirates is one of the clubs here locally that are monitoring him. Egyptians are also looking at him, even though it is not your Al Ahly or Zamalek, but there is interest from that country,” said the source, in part.
Contacted for comment on Ohizu’s future, the player’s representative Siya Mareke of YoBoy Management told the Siya crew, “Yes, Chibuike Ohizu is under YoBoy Management and we are happy with his progress because he is doing well and scoring goals. I think four goals from seven matches is a good statistic. But as for interest and enquiries on his services, I mean the season has just started and the boy is fully focused on Sekhukhune United to help them in the league. The boy is not for sale and his aim is to help Sekhukhune. It’s too early to entertain such enquiries and there is currently no price tag for the boy as far as I understand.”
