Mamelodi Sundowns have concluded talks over another long-term deal, and the details have been revealed to the Siya crew.
Meanwhile it was reported last month that versatile midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee had put pen to paper on fresh terms at Chloorkop before they could risk losing him on a free transfer in June 2022, when the initial agreement would have expired.
“It’s a five-year deal, and his ambitions are still to play in Europe if the right opportunity presents itself, and the club knows that,” his agent Mike Makaab of ProSport International told the Siya crew.
Downs signed ‘Riva’ four years ago after his much-awaited move to Scottish giants Celtic collapsed at the final hurdle, owing to a serious foot injury.
“He is incredibly happy at the club, and he is well looked after – when they took him from Ajax Cape Town, they helped him rehabilitate from his injury. They allowed him enough time to totally recover. I think he has repaid them with some fantastic performances, his versatility is crazy. He is equally at home in midfield as he is in central defence,” Makaab said.
For all his efforts, however, Coetzee hasn’t yet done enough to impress Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who appears to be starting fresh with younger players in the national team, as seen in his selections for the World Cup qualifiers.
‘Riva’ is still only 24.
