Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to have filled their five foreign spots for this season, the Siya crew has been told.

Premier Soccer League clubs are allowed that maximum number of non-South African players on their books, with the exception only being when the players either have permanent residency documents to be registered as locals.

According to information at hand, the reigning DStv Premiership champions have settled on their quota.

Brian Onyango (Kenya), Gaston Sirino (Uruguay), Peter Shalulile (Namibia), Pavol Safranko (Slovakia) and, at the very last minute, Ricardo Nascimento (Brazil) have all been registered as the five foreign players.

It means Bangaly Soumaharo is not expected to feature this season, with the Siya crew having already reported that there were talks the club would agree to a mutual parting of ways given that he doesn’t appear to be in the technical team’s plans.

Nascimento was initially not expected to be part of the Sundowns squad this season having requested to remain in his native country while nursing a long-term injury earlier this year, the Siya crew has been informed.

But unable to find a suitable replacement, the two parties ironed things out and he has since been registered and will be available for selection soon.
