SuperSport United ended their away drought with a 3-0 thumping of Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.
Buhle Mkhwanazi, Moses Waiswa, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Iqraam Rayners came into the SuperSport side. For Swallows, Kagiso Malinga and Keletso Makgalwa got the nod and Thabo Matlaba returned to left-back replacing Yagan Sasman.
SuperSport posed the early threat and with just over ten minutes gone, Waiswa attempted a cross that deflected out for a corner and Webber whipped it in with Teboho Mokoena getting a header to it but it went just over the bar.
Soon after, Rayners cut inside from the left and fired at goal but it was saved in the bottom right corner by Virgil Vries, who tipped it around the post for a corner as Matsatsantsa continued to pile on the pressure.
Swallows tried to force their way back into the encounter as Ruzaigh Gamildien fed Makgalwa and he skipped past his marker with a clever piece of trickery but blazed the effort over the bar.
SuperSport midfielder Jamie Webber then unleashed from long-range with the ball heading towards Vries' bottom right hand corner at a rapid rate but it was once again brilliantly saved by the Birds shot-stopper.
Kaitano Tembo's side continued to dominate and were finding a lot of joy down the right flank where Webber delivered a peach of a ball into the box for an unmarked Waiswa, who headed over the bar wastefully.
Less than a minute later, the referee pointed to the spot after Sipho Sibiya had handballed at the near post from a Mokoena cross from the right-hand side. Webber stepped up and sent Vries the wrong way as he buried the ball into the keeper's bottom right-hand corner.
And in a flash the visitors grabbed their second. Mokoena found himself with a bit of space on the left and played a sumptuous diagonal to Webber at the back post, who volleyed it first-time back into the box. Vries fumbled it into the path of Mokoena, who side-footed the ball cleanly into the roof of the net.
With 20 minutes to go, SuperSport made it 3-0. Webber drew a foul from Sibiya in the penalty area and Gabuza converted the spot-kick powerfully down the middle to put some gloss on the scoreline.
