Now that he has managed to open his account for Mamelodi Sundowns, lethal attacker Thabiso Kutumela has made a bold promise to the club's fans.
Kutumela, who is renowned for his goalscoring prowess, managed to bag his first for the Brazilians since making the switch from Maritzburg United at the start of the season.
The 27-year-old smoothly slotted through the legs of a hapless Vasilije Kolak in his side’s 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Sunday.
“I managed to open my account in a Mamelodi Sundowns t-shirt, and I am really, really happy. It was not an easy goal because some players lose their cool when they get to the box, but I told myself when I got the ball, my first touch was alright then I went between the legs of the goalkeeper,” he told the club’s media department.
After breaking his duck in what was his fourth appearance for the club, Kutumela has made a promise to the Sundowns supporters, vowing to find the back of the net on a more regular basis, now that his confidence is slowly returning.
“The dance? You know the cobra dance. You are still going to see it again. I have to get my confidence back (in) scoring, but I am happy that I got my first goal to open my account for Mamelodi Sundowns,” he added.
Kutumela finished the 2020/21 season on 14 goals in all competitions and will be hoping to replicate that feat, especially with Sundowns’ creativity in midfield.
