Khanye: Four Quality Players That Chiefs Have Signed…

Four players have been singled out as the best of all the signings made by Kaizer Chiefs for the 2021/22 season by one of the club's former stars.

Four players have been singled out as the best of all the signings made by Kaizer Chiefs for the 2021/22 season by one of the club's former stars.

Before the start of the season, Chiefs unveiled a number of new signings after the club was finally allowed to sign players, after finishing their two-window FIFA transfer ban.

The new players at Amakhosi this season includded Brandon Petersen, Thabani Gumede, Sifiso Hlanti, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Njabulo Ngcobo, Cole Alexander, Phathutshedzo Nange, Keagan Dolly and Kgaogelo Sekgota.

However, former Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye is not convinced that all the signings are good enough to help the Soweto giants to reclaim the glory as cup kings of South African football.

“Kaizer Chiefs have signed some quality players although some of them were free agent, but we can’t dispute the fact that some of those players are quality. Keagan Dolly is a quality player and it’s just a pity that he is unfit, but the guy is quality. Cole Alexander is a quality player. Sekgota is a good player and Njabulo Ngcobo is a good player. He was voted for as the Defender of the Season while playing for Swallows last season,” said Khanye.

“I have seen Dube, and I still have my doubts about him. The boy is a GladAfrica Championship player and is not yet a player you would expect to come and make changes at Chiefs where there is pressure. He is a good player for clubs like Richards Bay but not for Kaizer Chiefs,” Khanye added.

“There is also Nange and I don’t understand why Chiefs signed him. The guy didn’t even start all the games at Stellenbosch, and you bring him to Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t understand it. Nange never raised his hand for Chiefs to sign him. Moving on, I have seen enough of Mabiliso and he is not a good player for Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

“Going on and talking about Sifiso Hlanti, the guy is tactically not disciplined. Why bring such a guy at Chiefs? There are only four quality players that Chiefs have signed. Those four players could make the difference for Chiefs and I wish the club had been able to get a player like Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United and a coach,” concluded Khanye.
