Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Maluleka has shed some weight and is looking sharp in training, according to co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi.
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the defending DSTV Premiership champions, but could get an opportunity to feature in the near future as Mngqithi revealed that he has been doing well in training and is knocking on the door for a place in the line-up.
With so much competition for places at Sundowns, it has not been easy for the 32-year-old to break into the team.
Speaking ahead of the MTN8 second leg semi-final against Golden Arrows, Mngqithi made mention of Maluleka as one of the players they are eager to give an opportunity to.
"We have players who are outside that never played. George is one player that has done exceptionally well. If you can see him now, he has lost so much weight. He looks very sharp and we are eager to give him an opportunity at some point. We must try see what we can do, without tampering with the winning combination," Mngqithi told media in a press conference on Sunday, less than 24 hours after his side registered a 2-0 victory over Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.
Sundowns take on Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday, after the first leg semi-final finished 1-1.
