Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids has weighed in on whether Mamelodi Sundowns are overwhelming favourites to win the DStv Premiership after beating the Buccaneers last weekend.
The Brazilians have now toppled both Chiefs and Pirates in the last few weeks, once again highlighting their credentials as title favourites for the 2021/22 season.
However, despite Sundowns’ unbeaten start to the league, Davids has maintained that the Brazilians will not win every trophy available this season unchallenged.
“No we cannot write the league off, the league is not won after a game like today (Saturday), definitely not,” Davids told journalists.
“Sundowns cannot put their name on each trophy.“As a brand and as Orlando Pirates, we are going to fight for each trophy that is available and we’ll go for it flat-out, right up until the end of each tournament that we are in, and by no means are we giving up and saying everything is done and Mamelodi Sundowns have already won all trophies, no.
“We have to look at ourselves and look at the process we are in but for sure we have to fight for every trophy that is available,” he added.
Sundowns are one of three undefeated teams in the opening five rounds of matches in the DStv Premiership, alongside SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC.
