Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana is unlikely to be in the Amakhosi matchday squad for the foreseeable future.
Ngezana, who signed a new three-year contract with an option to extend for a further two years in March, last featured for Amakhosi in the CAF Champions League semi-final against Wydad Casablanca in June. Baxter explained why the player has not been in the team.
"He's got a serious injury. He's been out. He was selectable for the Wydad games and then after that he was not selectable. He's had a serious injury and had an operation and he's had all sorts of treatment. He's at a point where he is hobbling and jogging around the pitch," Baxter told media in a zoom press conference ahead of the DSTV Premiership clash against Royal AM at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
"When I have worked with him a little bit longer, I think I will tell you what his best position is. He can play full back and he can play centre back."
Another player who has been out of the team recovering from injury is Dumisani Zuma. The player is jogging at the moment, but there is no indication when he will make a return to the Amakhosi matchday squad.
