Orlando Pirates came from a goal down to beat Chippa United 3-1 in DStv Premiership action at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After his goalscoring heroics last time out, Tshegofatso Mabasa was preferred to Deon Hotto up front in the only change to the Pirates' line-up. Thokozani Sekotlong and Phakamani Mahlambi their first starts for the Chilli Boys.
Chippa threatened as early as the third minute as Siyabonga Mpontshane made a nice low save to deny Sekotlong whose shot was heading into the bottom corner.
The Chilli Boys took the lead in the 11th minute. Mogakolodi Ngele played the ball down the inside left of the box for Mahlambi to run onto it and his effort ricocheted off the defender and back of the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger past Siyabonga Mpontshane at his near post.
Pirates equalised in the 28th minute as a cross found its way to Mabasa after Riaan Hanamub missed the ball and the Bucs striker finished from close range for his second goal in as many games.
The Buccaneers began to take increased control of the game and started to enjoy large swathes of the possession as the first half approached its end.
