AmaZulu FC defender Samkelo Mgwazela has stressed the importance of making a good start to the DStv Premiership season if they want to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns.
Usuthu finished in the second in the league last season and they will open new campaign against defending champions later this month.
Magwazela says they want to make sure they capitalise on the first round of games to make sure they put pressure on the defending champions.
"We want to do that, they always say you win the league in the first leg, we want to make sure we send strong message in the first leg," Magwazela told the media recently at KwaMashu
"What I've noticed the DStv Premiership it becomes more harder in the second leg, you have to collect maximum points in your first games, so we prepared to launch our title intentions from first game."
Usuthu will officially open new season against Benni McCarth's former side Cape Town City in the first round of the MTN8 and Magwazela says it won't be easy.
"We cannot predict football, it will be grudge game so it won't be easy but we ready."
