Six players will leave Naturena next week as the football calendar focuses on the international break.
Kaizer Chiefs so far have Bruce Bvuma, Njabulo Blom, Austin Dube and Sibusiso Mabiliso selected by coach Hugo Broos to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad for next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers away to Zimbabwe and then Ghana.
Daniel Akpeyi and Khama Billiat have also been called up by Nigeria and Zimbabwe, respectively.
“We have six, possibly seven players away with national teams, they won’t have a break. The players who have virtually been playing non-stop we will allow them some free time, before coming back and having a good ten or eleven days to prepare for the Mamelodi Sundowns game,” Baxter was quoted as saying on the Chiefs website.
The international break, which starts on Monday, will give some of the injured players time to also recover, the coach said.
“The lads who are injured will have no time off, they will be working hard to get fully fit, and we will welcome back our lads from the national teams and integrate them as a unit,” Baxter explained in reference to Lebo Manyama, Siyabonga Ngezana, Leonardo Castro and Dumisani Zuma.
