A Kaizer Chiefs fan favourite is currently in talks to join Swallows, the Siya crew understands.
Given Thibedi, who spent the previous season on loan from Amakhosi, but returned to Naturena to be assessed by new coach Stuart Baxter, could make a sensational return to the Dube Birds by the end of the week!
Siya sources in the know have informed the media that the midfielder has been given the green light to discuss personal terms with Swallows.
This then suggests Baxter is happy for the young midfielder, a development product of the Chiefs academy, to move on and get regular game time elsewhere.
It’s not the first time these discussions take place, with the Siya crew having reported last year already that Swallows were keen on making Thibedi’s loan move permanent.
But his return to Chiefs was confirmed last month along with the new arrivals like Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo, who played with Thibedi at Swallows last season.
The deal is expected to be concluded this week if all parties involved agree, although insiders at Naturena have indicated that this could very well only be a formality.
At 23, Thibedi is still seen as a bright prospect having come through the youth ranks at Chiefs.
He featured in more than 20 matches for Swallows in all competitions last season, and played more matches for the Dube Birds in their promotion winning season the year before.
It now remains to be seen whether this deal will go over the line, but Siya sources have informed the crew it should happen and an announcement is imminent.
