Willard Katsande is believed to be closing in on his next move in the DStv Premiership a week after it was confirmed he would be leaving Kaizer Chiefs.
A stalwart of 10 years at Naturena, the midfielder bid an emotional farewell to the Glamour Boys in a video posted by the club on their social media pages as they ushered in a new group of players and said goodbye to ‘Salt and Pepper’.
The Siya crew has been informed that topflight rookies Sekhukhune United have offered Katsande a one-year contract with an option to have it extended by a further season at the end of the upcoming campaign.
Indications are that the player has agreed to join them in principle, with talks ongoing and a deal likely to be confirmed this week.
Should he be announced, Katsande will become take Sekhukhune’s number of signings to over 10 already following their controversial promotion to the Premier Division several weeks ago as eventual winners of the GladAfrica Championship.
Royal AM are still disputing this outcome in court, but the PSL has already released fixtures for both the first and second tier of SA football, with the season getting underway in about two weeks for both divisions.
Katsande will then be expected to be Sekhukhune’s most experienced player at the age of 35 and two league titles he won while at Chiefs.
