Kaizer Chiefs have given an update on the recovery of Dumisani Zuma and three of his teammates.
The attacker has not played for Amakhosi since the end of May when the club confirmed he had undergone surgery and expected to only return after four months, meaning around September.
But coach Stuart Baxter was quoted on the Chiefs website saying Zuma was still some way off from making a full recovery.
“With regards, to Lebogang Manyama, Leonardo Castro, Dumsani Zuma and Siyabonga Ngezana, they are quite a way from full fitness,” the coach explained.
“When they get back to full fitness, there will be quite a lot of competition for places. When the squad is fully assembled the boys that are new have a good idea how to behave at Kaizer Chiefs and what sort of football we play.”
Baxter said he was still working on getting his imprint and philosophy in the team, having returned for a second spell.
“When the injured players get back to full fitness, and the lads who have been going on for a while get a rest we can gel all that together and have a clear way of playing, then at that point we can see. That’s a bit down the road,” he said.
