- Date: 22 August 2021
- Venue: Mbombela Stadium
Bruce Bvuma came in for Itumeleng Khune in Stuart Baxter's only change to the Chiefs team, who lost to Mamelodi Sundowns last week,
Galaxy looked lively early on, as Tshegofatso Nyama tried a left-footed striker from range but it was saved in the bottom right corner comfortably by Bvuma, while Kgaogelo Sekgota let fly with a speculative effort on his favoured left foot but it was wild and blazed high and wide of the target.
Chiefs were not looking as dangerous in the attacking third as they had against Sundowns. However, they won a free-kick on the right wing after a foul by Ebrahim Seedat on Njabulo Blom in the 23rd minute. The Chiefs man dusted himself and whipped in the free-kick, which Samir Nurkovic headed towards the top left corner but it was brilliantly saved by Galaxy goalkeeper Vasilije Kolak at full stretch.
With the interval looming, Parker teed the ball up for Phathutshedzo Nange after Nurkovic and Khama Billiat had got in each other's way, but Nange snatched at his effort and it went wide and high over the bar.
