News reaching the Siya crew is that Cape Town City's Zukile Kewuti could return to KwaZulu-Natal.
After struggling for game-time under former Citizens coach Jan Olde Riekerink, the attacker went on loan to AmaZulu in January, where he thrived under Benni McCarthy.
Usuthu expressed an interest in securing the versatile player on a permanent deal, but missed the deadline to exercise the option to keep the 26-year-old for the new campaign.
As reported said earlier, the Siya crew has been led to believe that money is what held up the deal, with sources suggesting that McCarthy was still believed to be keen on the star and the price tag placed on Kewuti by City is around R1 million.
The Siya crew has since gathered that Maritzburg United have leapfrogged Usuthu in the race for the player's signature and have even made an approach.
Siya sources have suggested that a three-year deal is on the cards for Kewuti.
Indications are that the attacker is already in Maritzburg and an announcement by the Team of Choice can be expected in the coming days.
