It was a positive effect by new coach Kuuku Dadzie who took charge last week following the dismissal of Ernest Thompson Quartey.
Dwarfs are now in 12th place with 37 points and can pull even further away from the drop area with another win.
Sunday's match has been overshadowed by threats from some Dwarfs ultras to the referee and his assistants.
But the club have officially written to the Ghana Football Association to distance themselves from that behaviour.
A statement read: ''We wish to disassociate ourselves from the contents of the attached video in which a few Supporters of our club have issued out threats against the Match Officials appointed for our Sunday crucial match against Accra Hearts of Oak S/C.
''We are also appalled at the unkind words used against the Management of the GFA and apologise for that.
'We are praying fervently for the Match Officials to perform excellently to the satisfaction of all parties.''
Hearts of Oak received extra motivation to win after their closest challengers Asante Kotoko dropped points in their 1-1 draw with King Faisal.
The Phobians now need four points from the remaining nine to be crowned champions for the first time since 2009.
