The Siya crew has been informed that a decision has been made on the midfielder whose future has been in doubt in recent weeks.
As reported by the Siya crew, Thabiso Lebitso emerged as a target for newly promoted Sekhukhune United after impressing with his performances for Chippa United, but following the Eastern Cape club’s success in retaining their topflight status, the 25-year-old player’s contract has been extended to prevent him from leaving for rivals.
Lebitso, who joined Chippa from the Tshwane University of Technology in January last year, made 19 appearances in Chippa’s 2020/21 DStv Premiership campaign.
Contacted for comment, the player’s representative Mandla Mthembu confirmed that Lebitso has had his stay at the Gqeberha-based club extended.
“I can confirm that we have agreed to enter into a new contract for Thabiso Lebitso although I am not at liberty to confirm the club and further contract details,” he confirmed.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to correct some reporters and commentators who have reported on Thabiso being a late developer and said he is 29 years old. Thabiso’s correct age is 25 and we don’t know where they got the wrong information from, which is misleading,” concluded Mthembu.”
