Contract details of Kaizer Chiefs latest signing have been revealed to the Siya crew, with the club expected to confirm his arrival this month.
As he was part of the COSAFA Cup squad with Bafana Bafana, the defender’s name was not included in the list of six new arrivals – Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Phathutshedzo Nange, Njabulo Ngcobo and Kgaogelo Sekgota – announced by Chiefs two weeks ago in what was the worst kept secret.
Given Thibedi has also returned to his parent club following two seasons on loan at Soweto neighbours Swallows.
Indications are that Dube has penned a three-year deal, which appears to be the standard contract at Chiefs because the majority of their new signings have similar terms.
Dube was bought by Amakhosi from GladAfrica Championship outfit Richards Bay and will soon report for duty at his new club this month, though it is likely that he might be given a few days off following his participation in the COSAFA Cup.
Bafana won the regional tournament on Sunday.
It’s expected that Amakhosi could add one or two more players to boost coach Stuart Baxter’s squad before the close of the transfer window, but a few others are also going to be offloaded now that Chiefs are done with the CAF Champions League.
The hold up in making further announcements was understood to be their trip to Morocco to face Al Ahly, who beat them 3-0 at the weekend to clinch the trophy.
