Kaizer Chiefs’ shot at signing Keagan Dolly is if they move quickly, with the Siya crew led to believe the attacker has received a lucrative offer from North Africa.
According to insiders at the club it’s believed Amakhosi have earmarked the Bafana Bafana star as a potential addition to their squad ahead of the 2021/22 season, but they do have competition from overseas.
Dolly, 28, became a free agent at the end of the previous campaign after four years at Montpellier in the French top-flight and the Siya crew has in the past been informed that he is open to returning home if it’s the right fit.
Indications are that the player has had one club in France enquire about his services, while Al Ahly have been tracking him in for some time now.
The latest news reaching Soccer Laduma is that Dolly is believed to have received a lucrative offer from North Africa, but further details remain sketchy as talks are delicate.
With Pitso Mosimane the Ahly coach and having previously worked with Dolly at Mamelodi Sundowns, it is not completely out of the picture to see a reunion, especially after the now three-times CAF Champions League winner said on Friday he would be signing a South African player this year.
‘Jingles’ told SA FM’s Thabiso Mosia that the player he has his eye on is not currently playing for Sundowns because “they would take me to court”, therefore squashing rumours that it could be Gaston Sirino, who is desperate to join Al Ahly.
Could it be Dolly?
That remains to be seen, but the Siya crew has been led to believe that Chiefs are very keen on the attacker given that he has also worked with their coach Stuart Baxter during his spell as Bafana Bafana coach.
According to insiders, Amakhosi, however, have not made contact with Dolly’s camp, and that could put them at a disadvantage in getting a deal done unless they move quickly.
