TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed to the Siya crew that a member of the club’s technical team is on his way to Chippa United.
Siya sources tipped off the crew over the weekend that goalkeeper coach Tyron Damons was expected to reunite with Gavin Hunt at the Gqeberha-based outfit not long after Roy Limongelli, who worked with the duo at now defunct Bidvest Wits, had also been hired by the Chilli Boys as technical director.
“Yes, I can confirm that Tyron Damons is leaving our club and he is joining Gavin Hunt at Chippa United and we wish him well,” Sukazi told the Siya crew.
“We will begin our own process to appoint a replacement before the start of the new season.”
Damon moved to TS Galaxy in October last year having spent four years at Wits, where Hunt was the head coach for seven years and was able to end the club’s near century-long league title drought when he won the championship in 2017.
But with the team sold in June last year, the technical team was disbanded – Hunt joining Kaizer Chiefs along with Dillon Sheppard, Damon going to Galaxy, while the rest remained unattached in the domestic game.
Hunt signed a two-year contract at Chippa earlier this month, a decision that took the football fraternity by surprise – and is now looking to bring back his old technical team at Wits together again with Limongelli and Damon so far.
The coach has also been linked with some of the players who previously played for the Clever Boys, among them Sameehg Doutie and Edwin Gyimah.
