A decision on Willard Katsande’s future at Kaizer Chiefs has finally been taken, the Siya crew has been informed.
Sources at Naturena had informed the media in this week’s edition that the veteran midfielder was locked in talks with Amakhosi, with discussions being fast tracked following the historic win against Wydad Casablanca over two legs to reach the CAF Champions League final over the weekend.
Indications then were that Katsande would be handed a one-year contract, and it’s now emerged that Chiefs have moved swiftly to secure the 35-year-old’s signature and guarantee he will be remaining with the Glamour Boys for another season.
This effectively means the player would have been at the club for more than a decade!
Others who could join him in that milestone are Bernard Parker and Itumeleng Khune, the duo who’s contract were also expired on June 30.
Khune, however, had an option in his contract and it has since been reported by Kick-Off that the club has triggered it, while Parker’s agent told the Siya crew earlier this week that the player had agreed a one-month deal to be reviewed after the Champions League final on July 17 against Al Ahly.
