AmaZulu FC Diski challenge coach Siboniso Vilakazi has explained why Portugal-based Thabo Cele is considering playing in the DStv Premiership next season.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to South Africa, with Usuthu believed to be keen as his contract with Cova De Peidade ending this month.
Cele is understood to also considering returning to South Africa due to better chances of playing for Bafana Bafana, according to his former coach Vilakazi.
"No for me every player wants to play in Europe but at the end of the day, we need to ask why he want to come back to South Africa? Is he recognised in the national teams as he plays in Portugal?, " Vilakazi told the media.
"Probably he feels coming back to the PSL will give him more chances to play for Bafana Bafana, he is doing well but alongside Siphephelo Sithole, he hardly gets call-ups even though they are regulars in their teams.
"Maybe when time is right, he will get recognition he deserves, it just a matter of time."
With Usuthu among teams interested in Cele, Vilakazi says he would like to reunite with the midfielder having worked together at KZN Football Academy.
"Of course, I would like to reunite with him at AmaZulu FC. I coached him when he was still very young, it will be always good to work with him again."
