the Brazilians have agreed deals for centreback Katlego Mohamme (23) and left back Sifiso Ngobeni (24) from University of Pretoria as well as Bloemfontein Celtic respectively.
Indications are that both have put pen to paper on long-term contracts, though it’s understood it could be another year before they are part of the first team at Chloorkop.
Downs have a plethora of senior defenders that would limit the duo’s game-time considerably if they were to be registered for the 2021/22 campaign.
So in an effort to allow them to mature and improve, the Siya crew has been informed that the Sundowns technical team is then likely to propose that the two players be loaned out – preferably to clubs in the DStv Premiership.
Mohamme, who has been selected for the Tokyo Olympic squad for next month, has spent two years with AmaTuks in the GladAfrica Championship, but should he indeed go out on loan, then he will have to play in the top-flight.
Ngobeni is likely to remain at Celtic, who are expected to serve a FIFA transfer ban next season and in such a case they would not be able to bring in a replacement for their left back.
There’s been no official confirmation from Sundowns just yet regarding the signing of the two defenders, but Siya sources have informed the crew that they are seen more as long-term prospects rather than immediate first team regulars.
