Pitso Mosimane, the head coach of Al Ahly has commented on what he says are rumours linking Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch with a move to his club in Egypt.
For several months now, Lorch has appeared to be unsettled at Pirates since the failed move abroad, he was so keen on at the end of the 2018/19 season.
The 27-year-old player’s diminishing performances since after he was named the PSL’s Player of the Season in 2019 have further fuelled rumours of his ‘unhappiness’ though the attacking midfielder has been disrupted by injury in his progress this past season.
Mosimane is known to be an admirer of the player’s talent, and it was under the coach while he was still with Mamelodi Sundowns that Lorch was first linked with a move to the Chloorkop outfit.
While Lorch has in the past publicly confirmed that he wanted to move abroad, the player remains contracted to Pirates as things stand.
While his representative Jazzman Mahlakgane refuted any rumours linking the player with a Pirates exit, although it is thought that Sundowns could still push a big-money move during the transfer window.
However, as reported by the Siya crew, sources have revealed that Downs have appeared to be giving up on getting the Lorch deal done due to it being of complicated nature.
Meanwhile, Mosimane has taken to social media to set the record straight on the reports linking Lorch with the Cairo-based CAF Champions League finalists.
“There are rumours going around that Al Ahly wants T Lorch. If that has to happen, firstly I will humbly call the Chairman (Man of Honour), and ask for his blessings,” Mosimane wrote on his official Twitter account.
