Tiyani Mabunda is understood to have received his first genuine offer from a rival Premier Soccer League club following his Mamelodi Sundowns exit.
According to sources privy to the planned transfer movements at Sekhukhune United, it’s believed the 33-year-old is wanted by the GladAfrica Champions in-waiting, who are said to have already tabled an offer.
Sekhukhune have been embroiled in a legal battle with the PSL and Royal AM over who are the legitimate winners of the lower division having been awarded three points by independent arbitrator Hilton Epstein last month.
But the league and Royal AM disputed the award at the High Court and delayed their crowning moment as well as the relegation/promotion play-offs.
However, with the matches resuming at the weekend following a decision to dismiss Royal AM’s appeal, it appears as though Sekhukhune are planning for life in the top-flight.
The new 2021/22 season is expected to get underway in August and Siya sources have informed the crew that Sekhukhune have targeted the ex-Downs star.
Mabunda did not have his contract at Chloorkop extended beyond June 30 and has become a free agent, one that’s likely to be very sought after.
Swallows, AmaZulu and SuperSport United have previously been linked with the five-time league winner, but Sekhukhune are thought to be the first to make a bid for his signature.
