The Siya crew has been informed that a Maritzburg United player could be on his way to join KZN rivals, AmaZulu.
AmaZulu are looking to beef up their squad and it has been revealed to the Siya crew that Mxolisi Kunene is set to pen a deal with Usuthu, who will be participating in the CAF Champions League next season after making history by finishing second in the DStv Premiership this past campaign.
The 29-year-old Kunene, a former Baroka FC winger who joined Maritzburg in 2017, will see his contract with the Team of Choice expiring at the end of June and will be available as a free agent. Indications are that he will stay in KZN, with AmaZulu likely his next destination.
Maritzburg announced the departures of Kwanda Mngonyama, Daniel Morgan Jethran Barr and Dusan Stevic last week, with the club expected to announce more departures in the coming weeks. Kunene, according to information received by the Siya crew, is one of the players who will depart.
AmaZulu, meanwhile, have recently ensured that they will have striker Lehlohonolo Majoro on board, as they renewed his deal after he finished the campaign as the club’s top scorer.
