Eric Tinkler, who recently put his hand up for the Bafana Bafana job, could be making a return to the dugout!
According to Siya sources, the 50-year-old is understood to have met Cape Town City boss John Comitis at the weekend to discuss the likelihood of his return to the club as a replacement for Jan Olde Riekerink.
The Dutchman was on Monday placed on “administrative leave with immediate effect” as the Mother City outfit continues to struggle in the DStv Premiership – his suspension comes on the back of two consecutive defeats.
City were hammered 5-1 by high-flying AmaZulu last week Wednesday and then lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon in Nelspruit.
With the risk of dropping out of the Top 8 and only four games remaining, chairman Comitis has gone ahead and seemingly made a change.
Diogo Peral has stepped in “until further notice”, but indications are that it might not be long before Tinkler makes a return if the meeting between the two parties at the weekend was indeed regarding his potential return.
Tinkler is available immediately having been sacked by Maritzburg United in November last year, pretty early on in the 2020/21 campaign.
He did put his hand up for the vacant Bafana job, but his return to the bench may very well be with his former club, where he won the Telkom Knockout in 2016.
