Manyama: Kaizer Chiefs Wonder Kid Reminds Me Of Khama

Manyama - Chiefs Wonder Kid Reminds Me Of Khama

After setting the scene alight this season, Kaizer Chiefs starlet Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has been on the receiving end of some rave reviews – but his teammate Lebogang Manyama has reserved some wise words of wisdom for the young playmaker.

It was Ernst Middendorp who introduced Ngcobo to first team football in the 2019/20 campaign - but it is under Gavin Hunt that he has really flourished.

The 21-year-old has been one of the shining lights in a lacklustre Chiefs side this season, making 34 appearances in all competitions for the Glamour Boys. With his star on a steady rise, Ngcobo has received some wise words from Manyama, who is a huge admirer of the young ‘Mshini’.

“Ja, Nkosingiphile, a lot of us knew that he would perform like this if given the chance,” Manyama told Vodacom’s Ringa Nathi.

“I had seen him even before I was here at Chiefs and I knew already that he had a very bright future and luckily for him, he is a very good boy from a very good family.

I can see that the boys know what he wants and where he wants to go so its for him to enjoy but to know that his road is still long and that there is a lot that he still needs to learn for him to be a better player. I think everyone here at the club can see his talent and I think it is just for us as the senior players to help guide him in the right direction, but I think he is on the right path.

“When you are young the days aren’t the same and you also have to be patient and know that not everything will always go your way but I think so far so good for himself and his family and for the club most importantly to have a player like him, I think it’s a blessing that we all have to share, to enjoy him as long as we can and to try help him improve as much as he can.

For me personally, his potential when I was 19, I was playing with Khama (Billiat) and Thulani (Hlatshwayo) and when I see Nkosingiphile, I see the very same potential to both of them. They were that good that you could see these players will be where they are today, so I think we are all proud of him and we just need to help him improve each and every day.”
