Speaking ahead of their CAF Champions League quarterfinal match against Kaizer Chiefs, Simba SC coach Didier Gomes has backed a former Orlando Pirates midfielder to play a vital role in their match against Amakhosi.
There are still two matches for Simba to play before they take on Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on 15 May, but already the Tanzanian outfit have set their plans in motion for the clash.
Simba are currently on an impressive five-match winning streak, with their last defeat coming against Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly, a side they managed to beat in the CAF Champions League group stages.
Now, with Amakhosi firmly in their sights Simba coach Gomes has heaped high praise on former Pirates attacker Bernard Morrison, who could play a crucial role in their match against the Glamour Boys.
The Ghanaian, who had a turbulent time with the Buccaneers between 2016 and 2018, has featured four times for Simba in their CAF journey and has managed two goals already.
“Morrison is a special player, and we know that very well. He’s able to break a match, he’s very important so we will see,” he told the club’s media department.
“Morrison is a free player, and we have to be careful when he plays, we need to cover him, but for sure his performances are very positive, but we will see.
“You know against Yanga it is another thing and also against Kaizer Chiefs, we play another side in the first match so we need to be very balanced, particularly away like we have done in Congo, but we will see, Morrison is a very good, a very special player,” he added.
