AmaZulu’s magnificent form under the tutelage of Benni McCarthy has earned them a lump sum as they were confirmed as winners of the third quarter of the 2020/21 season, subsequently getting R1.5 million.
Usuthu won six and drew two of the eight matches in the third bracket of the season, which gave them an unassailable 20 points.
AmaZulu mentor Benni McCarthy was so appreciative after receiving the award.
“I would just like to thank the Dstv Premiership officials and everyone for recognizing us as the Q3 winners, I really appreciate it and we are very excited and happy to receive this award.
“It’s been hard work from everyone and we are fully grateful for this. I would like to thank the players, first of all for their hard work, the dedication, the sacrifice, the winning mentality that they show.”
“To come every single day, working to get better, so I’m really grateful and happy for them, that they are able to win this Q3 and all the hard work is paying off eventually,” echoed McCarthy.
The outspoken coach also applauded his technical team and the management of the club for their role in taking the team to greater heights.
“The technical team, the coaches, thank you for every single day pushing each other, pushing the players to do well, to do more, I am grateful for you guys as well and I’m very thankful to have you as part of my technical team.
“Also management, the president of the team Mr Manzini Zungu for the leadership, guiding the team, allowing me to assemble the team that I have and to be able to win Q3.
“Hopefully to win many more to come and we work hard every single day, so I’d like to thank them for the incredible leadership to AmaZulu Football Club and to the fans.”
He added: “I hope they enjoy this and we miss them a lot and we can’t wait to have you guys back in the stadium, so thank you from me, the players and the staff,” concluded McCarthy.
