Brylon Petersen Could leave Chiefs

One of Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper will have any movements regarding his future, dictated by the club, while open to looking for a fresh start.

According to Brylon Petersen’s representative, Modise Sefume, who told the Siya crew that there were no formal talks yet with Amakhosi about the next step of the young goalminder, with his contract coming to an end in June.

Petersen is further down the pecking order behind Itumeleng Khune, Daniel Akpeyi and Bruce Bvuma at Naturena and is yet to get any game-time under coach Gavin Hunt.

And with the Glamour Boys having already signed Brandon Petersen for next season, it’s safe to assume those minutes will be hard to come by – if the engineering graduate stays on.

The Siya crew reported earlier this week that because of the arrival of the ex-Bidvest Wits keeper, Petersen is expected to make way.

“At the moment we haven’t had an opportunity to meet with the club as yet, but Brylon has since completed his degree and now in a position to give his football a really big push. Unlike most players, who only secure their future towards the end of their careers, he has secured it at an earlier stage,” said Sefume.

“We are now waiting for it to just take off. He’s an unbelievably talented player, that much is clear because there are very few people who can study engineering and still maintain a contract at Kaizer Chiefs for over 3 years. So there’s something that he’s doing that the club likes and he is focused on that job at the moment.”

What about the lack of game-time for the 25-year-old?

“We are not averse to looking elsewhere, but obviously these things need to happen in the correct environment. I can’t be actively looking whilst the Brylon is still contracted and has a job to do at Chiefs. We’ve seen what a tumultuous season it’s been for Chiefs, in particular the goalkeepers. I do hope the coach can give him a chance to play like some have also been given an opportunity, so why not bet on a wild card while you still have it?”
