AmaZulu moved to within three points of Mamelodi Sundowns after registering a 2-1 win over TS Galaxy on Saturday evening.
Sibusiso Mabiliso, Luvuyo Memela and Lehlohonolo Majoro were all recalled by Benni McCarthy while Galaxy made wholesale changes, with only Bevan Fransman, Mlungisi Mbunjana, Pogiso Sanoka and MacBeth Mahlangu retaining their places.
The hosts had a quick start and they nearly went ahead in the fourth minute after Mabiliso had a chance on the left side of the box but his strike was saved by shot-stopper Marlon Heugh.
Benni McCarthy's charges continued to put Galaxy under pressure and Majoro finally broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute with a great finish inside the box after he teed up by Memela.
Majoro doubled AmaZulu's lead and grabbed his brace just before the break with a tap-in from a rebound after Heugh parried away Sphesihle Maduna's header and the KwaZulu-Natal side went to the break with a two-goal cushion.
The Rockets reacted with a double change at half-time in a reshuffle at the back, as Spiwe Msimango came on for Gaona Modisane while Marks Munyai replaced Sanoka.
